Letter from Dilan Polat to President Erdoğan: 'I did not want it sent'
It has been learned that Dilan Polat, who is in prison on charges of money laundering, wrote a letter to President Erdoğan but did not send it. The Polat couple's lawyer, Hüseyin Kaya, made a statement regarding the matter.
Recently, the Polat couple and other detainees, who are being held on charges of 'money laundering', 'violation of the Tax Procedure Law', and 'establishing and managing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes', were released from custody regarding the 'violation of the Tax Procedure Law' charge.
However, the prosecutor decided that their detention should continue on the grounds that work on the file regarding the other charges is still ongoing.
According to the report by Miray Tamer from 10haber, the Polat couple's lawyer, Hüseyin Kaya, stated that this was 'a correct but very delayed decision'.
LETTER TO PRESIDENT ERDOĞAN
Stating that Dilan Polat wrote a letter addressed to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, Kaya said the following:
"I did not want it to be sent. Because we, as lawyers, are already speaking and making evaluations in the media in a way that is sufficient for the President to hear. We wanted the law to be effective, rather than a letter to be effective."
