Letter from Istanbul Police Department to Lawyer Serdar Öktem regarding 'Daltons': Take precautions

Lawyer Serdar Öktem, who was also detained for a period as part of the Sinan Ateş murder case, has been killed in an armed attack. The attack, in which long-barreled weapons were used, took place today around 16:00.

The incident occurred near the Zincirlikuyu Cemetery in Şişli. The vehicle in which Serdar Öktem was traveling was targeted by an armed attack from individuals in another vehicle.

It was learned that multiple bullets struck Öktem's body during the attack, in which a Kalashnikov-style weapon was used.

Lawyer Serdar Öktem, who was attacked with long-barreled weapons in front of his office on Büyükdere Street in Şişli, Istanbul, has lost his life.

The suspects who killed Lawyer Serdar Öktem were apprehended by the Intelligence Branch of the Istanbul Police Department.

According to the report by Cengiz Anıl Bölükbaş from T24, it has emerged that the Istanbul Police Department sent a letter to the Bakırköy and Şişli Police Departments on August 15, stating that a suspect had claimed the 'Daltons' criminal organization would carry out an attack on Öktem, and requesting that measures be taken for Öktem's safety.

The letter sent by the police included the following statements:

“In the statement taken at our Branch Directorate regarding an ongoing investigation, it is understood that the suspect stated that an action would be carried out against a person named Lawyer Serdar ÖKTEM by members of the Daltons criminal organization. In the open and closed source inquiries conducted, it was determined that he has a residence in Ataköy and an office in Şişli; I request that the necessary judicial and administrative measures be taken by your District Police Department, including the notification of the Life Safety Communiqué to the person named Serdar ÖKTEM.”
