Lieutenant General Algan, who opposed the dismissal of lieutenants, has retired! Ministry of National Defense sources confirm

Lieutenant General Tevfik Algan, Chief of Staff of the Land Forces, who voted "no" to the dismissal of 5 lieutenants and 3 commanders from the TSK, has requested his retirement, and the Ministry of National Defense has approved the commander's request.

It was revealed that Lieutenant General Tevfik Algan, Chief of Staff of the Land Forces, had submitted his retirement request after casting a dissenting vote against the dismissal of 5 lieutenants from the TSK due to the sword-oath ceremony at the Military Academy.

MINISTRY OF NATIONAL DEFENSE: LIEUTENANT GENERAL TEVFİK ALGAN'S REQUEST HAS BEEN ACCEPTED

During the weekly briefing held at the Ministry of National Defense today, it was stated that the request had been accepted. In response to questions regarding Lieutenant General Tevfik Algan's request for retirement, Ministry of National Defense sources stated the following:

"Retirement applications in the TSK can be made within the scope of current legislation in January/February and July/August. Retirement requests made outside of these periods are subject to the approval of the Force Commanders.

Retirement requests made in January/February and July/August must be approved. In this context, the Chief of Staff of the Land Forces submitted his retirement request of his own volition yesterday. His request was deemed appropriate and approved."

During the weekly briefing held at the Ministry of National Defense, the following statement was also made in response to questions regarding the "cancellation decision" issued by the Erzurum 1st Administrative Court concerning a previously dismissed Lieutenant:

"The hearing regarding the decision taken by the Erzurum 1st Administrative Court was held on February 13. No official notification regarding the decision has been served to our ministry yet. The legal process is ongoing. The person who is the subject of the lawsuit is not one of the 7 personnel dismissed for being involved in the incidents at the Infantry School. This person was dismissed by the decision of the High Disciplinary Board due to social media posts that were 'contrary to the structure of Turkish society'."
