As the crisis over lieutenants and the İzmir March continues, claim emerges: 'Hulusi Akar met one-on-one with Erdoğan!' 'Even if he didn't say it clearly...'
T24 columnist Tolga Şardan, who brought to light the alleged ban on the İzmir March at the Military Academy, has shared new information regarding the issue. In his column today, Şardan also raised a striking claim about former Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar. Suggesting that Akar met one-on-one with AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Şardan stated, "Even if he didn't say it clearly, claims are circulating in the corridors that Akar 'made it felt' to Erdoğan that he wants to be the Minister of National Defense again."
While the administrative investigation launched into the lieutenants who took an oath with swords and chanted "We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal" at the Military Academy graduation ceremony remains on the agenda, the National Defense University (MSÜ) administration has taken action following allegations that the İzmir March was also banned last year.
Following the claim that dominated the agenda, a video was shared on the MSÜ's social media account with the note "Cadets continuing their education at the Military Academy," showing the İzmir March being sung during training.
While it emerged that the video in question was filmed under special orders, T24 columnist Tolga Şardan, who brought the claim to the agenda, shared new information he obtained regarding the İzmir March process.
SCHOOL COMMANDER'S 'MARCHES TO BE SUNG AND MARCHING ORDERS' DIRECTIVE WAS ON THE BOARD
Şardan wrote that the directive titled "Marches to be sung and marching orders" by the school's previous commander, Gültekin Yaralı, who was promoted to lieutenant general by the Supreme Military Council decision and appointed as the 7th Corps Commander in Diyarbakır, was posted on the 'current orders board'.
"THIS NOTICE WAS REMOVED IN A HURRY"
Pointing out that the list in question included the Military Academy March, the Homeland March, and marches for the infantry, engineering, and artillery branches, but did not include the İzmir March, Şardan stated, "Of course, this instruction/order notice has now been removed from the board in a hurry. In any case, there was no other action to take than to remove it!"
"HULUSI AKAR MET ONE-ON-ONE WITH ERDOĞAN"
Drawing attention to the fact that no statement has been made by the Ministry of National Defense or the General Staff regarding the banning of the İzmir March, Şardan brought another striking claim to his column.
Şardan stated that former Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar met one-on-one with AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan some time ago and expressed that he was not satisfied with his current political position.
"Even if he didn't say it clearly, claims are circulating in the corridors that Akar 'made it felt' to Erdoğan that he wants to be the Minister of National Defense again; I think it would be more accurate to say he made it felt," said Şardan, continuing as follows:
"Looking at this picture, it would not be wrong to say that there is a difference of opinion or a difference in working methods between Akar and the current Minister of National Defense, Yaşar Güler.
It is also said that Güler has expressed his discomfort to his close circle regarding the lieutenants' crisis at the Military Academy. In parallel with this, the claim that Akar and MSÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Erhan Afyoncu provided negative information to Erdoğan and his team regarding the lieutenants' process has fallen into the corridors.
Since that day, no statement to the contrary has come regarding this information. In this context, I would like to emphasize that there is a 'coldness' between the military administration and the university's civilian administration, especially during the lieutenants' process at the Military Academy, within the framework of what you have just read."
