Footage of lieutenants crossing their swords and taking an oath, chanting 'We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal' at the Military Academy graduation ceremony, has divided politics.

While contradictory statements have also come from within the AKP, President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan broke his silence, saying, "Who are you drawing those swords against?"

Erdoğan also stated the following:

"Recently, at a graduation ceremony, some opportunists emerged and drew swords. Who are you drawing these swords against? Now, regarding those involved, a few ignorant people, they will also be purged. It is not possible for them to be within our army."

LIEUTENANTS' COMPANY COMMANDER HAS RESIGNED

Hürriyet columnist Nedim Şener, in his column today, wrote, "The oath that the young lieutenants organized after the official program, without the knowledge of the school administration, seems to have been rehearsed beforehand," while also reporting that the lieutenants' company commander had resigned.

Şener said the following in his column:

In my column, I had listed the people who could direct or encourage the lieutenants on this matter as follows: "It is necessary to look carefully at the officers at the Platoon-Company-Battalion-Regiment Command level who are in a position to give orders and encouragement to the lieutenants inside, as much as those outside."

As a matter of fact, the lieutenants' Company Commander, Major M., has resigned from the Turkish Armed Forces. Although he justified his resignation to those around him by saying, "I was going to resign anyway," the resignation of the Company Commander of the lieutenants, who were thrown into the middle of the controversy, seemed interesting to me.
