Luxury cars sought by Interpol found in Istanbul
Seven suspects, including 5 foreign nationals, were arrested for smuggling luxury cars rented in Germany into Turkey. Two vehicles sought by Interpol were recovered, and the suspects, one of whom is a woman, were remanded in custody by judicial authorities.
Following the determination that 2 luxury vehicles had been stolen from Germany via a rental scheme and brought to Istanbul, teams from the Auto Theft Bureau of the Public Security Branch Directorate launched an investigation.
During the investigation, teams received a tip-off that the vehicles were located in a parking lot in Küçükçekmece and took action. Police teams seized the 2 stolen luxury vehicles at the parking lot.
Tracking the trail of the cars, the teams identified the hotel where the suspects who left the vehicles were staying. Raiding the hotel, the teams apprehended 7 suspects, including 1 woman.
THEY WERE ARRESTED
During the operation, Mohamed S. (30), a German citizen of Moroccan descent, İsmail E. B. (23), Ayman E. B. (22), Bilal K. Z. (25), a Spanish citizen of Moroccan descent, Ayoub K. L. (23), and German citizens Gülizar T. (21) and Dewran B. Ç. (20) were taken into custody.
The apprehended suspects were sent to prison after being remanded in custody by the judicial authorities to whom they were referred following the completion of procedures at the police station.
