Mahir Polat's lawyer: Every minute carries a risk

Mahir Polat, who suffers from chronic heart and blood pressure conditions and has been transferred to the hospital multiple times, had been referred to the Council of Forensic Medicine.

Stating that Polat's blood pressure was at a lethal level and that he is at risk regarding his heart, brain, and kidneys due to hypertension, lawyer Erkam Erdem had said, "Mahir Polat being discharged from the hospital does not mean his health has stabilized. The hypertension continues; this blood pressure continues to damage his brain, kidneys, and especially his heart, and the risk of a heart attack or brain hemorrhage is constant."

Mahir Polat's lawyer, Erkam Erdem, provided new information in the evening hours.

Stating that every minute Polat spends in prison carries a risk, Erdem used the following expressions:

"We have been trying to explain this for days. We have no time left to lose!

Every minute my client Mahir Polat spends in prison carries a risk.

The report from the Provincial Health Board members, who gathered urgently yesterday, also confirms that Mr. Mahir cannot remain in prison conditions.

In line with the objection I shared the details of yesterday, we demand the immediate release of Mr. Mahir. Without wasting any time."

İBB Deputy Secretary General Polat, who has been detained in Silivri Prison since March 26, has seen his health deteriorate and has been hospitalized several times during his time in prison.

After being arrested and sent to prison on Sunday, March 23, Polat was first hospitalized on the evening of Wednesday, March 26, due to high blood pressure. Polat, who was transferred to Silivri State Hospital, was discharged on Thursday, March 27, and taken back to prison.

On Saturday, March 29, Polat was hospitalized once again due to high blood pressure. His lawyer, Erdem, reported that Polat's blood pressure had risen to 24 and that he had been admitted to the intensive care unit at Mehmet Akif Ersoy Hospital.

Polat, who underwent an angiography on the morning of Sunday, March 30, was discharged on the morning of Monday, March 31, and taken back to the prison in Silivri. Polat was referred to the Council of Forensic Medicine on April 5.
