Mahmut Tanal stages 1-minute protest in Parliament: Don't touch the olive, don't touch life

Discussions on the omnibus bill, which includes opening olive groves to mining activities, continue in the Turkish Grand National Assembly General Assembly.

Deputies took the floor for one minute each to ask questions regarding the bill to Mustafa Varank, Chairman of the Committee on Industry, Trade, Energy, Natural Resources, Information and Technology and AKP Bursa Deputy.

CHP Şanlıurfa Deputy Mahmut Tanal, who took the floor, said, "The olive is the memory of Anatolia and at the same time, it is life.

This proposal regarding olive groves must be withdrawn. Because the olive is life, it is existence," and then spent the remainder of his one-minute speaking time repeating, "Here is what we are saying; don't touch the olive, don't touch life, don't touch the olive, don't touch life, don't touch the olive, don't touch life, don't touch the olive, don't touch life, don't touch the olive, don't touch life...."
