Major blow to smugglers: Over 10,000 items seized
In an operation in Istanbul, 10,103 bags, wristwatches, shoes, wallets, belts, and glasses belonging to famous brands, which were smuggled into the country, were seized, and 5 suspects were detained.
In a simultaneous operation carried out in Istanbul's Fatih district, more than 10,000 smuggled glasses, watches, bags, and other products that were brought into the country illegally were seized.
Teams from the Istanbul Anti-Smuggling Branch Directorate received information that products such as bags, wristwatches, shoes, wallets, belts, and sunglasses belonging to famous brands were going to be released onto the market illegally. Following technical and physical surveillance, the teams identified that these products were being stored in 6 sales offices and 6 warehouses in Fatih and carried out the operation.
In the operation, a total of 10,103 smuggled items, estimated to have a market value of around 500 million lira, were seized. These products include bags, wristwatches, shoes, wallets, belts, and glasses.
During the operation, 5 suspects were taken to the police station for processing.
The seized smuggled goods were displayed to the public at the Istanbul Police Department's Vatan Campus.
