Major development in the Ayhan Bora Kaplan case: Investigation launched into 3 police officers!

Ayhan Bora Kaplan criminal organization trial, in which 61 defendants are being tried, continues at the Ankara 32nd High Criminal Court.

It has been learned that the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an ex officio investigation into public officials serving at the Ankara Provincial Police Department whose names were mentioned in allegations regarding the criminal organization.

It was stated that proceedings are ongoing regarding public officials who were negligent in the escape of S.S., who was a secret witness during the investigation phase and is alleged to have fled abroad, and that judicial proceedings against the suspects will be initiated following the preparation of the Ministry of Interior Inspection Board report.

The Ministry of Interior had also announced on May 9 that, within the scope of the investigation into the organized crime group in the capital, the Ankara Deputy Provincial Police Chief, the Branch Manager of the Anti-Organized Crime Branch, and the Deputy Branch Manager had been suspended from their duties.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Serdar Sertçelik, who is being tried on allegations of being the number two of the criminal organization led by Ayhan Bora Kaplan, had claimed that he became a "secret witness" under pressure from police officers affiliated with the Ankara Police Department and that he was directed by the police regarding the content of his secret witness testimony.

Sertçelik had alleged that he was forced by the police to provide the names of certain AKP officials in an additional statement.

Following Sertçelik's allegations, Ankara Deputy Police Chief Murat Çelik, Anti-Organized Crime Branch Manager Kerem Öner, and Deputy Branch Manager Şevket Demircan were suspended following an inspector's report.
