The candidate for change, Özgür Özel, won the chairmanship race at the Republican People's Party's (CHP) 38th Ordinary Convention.

In the chairmanship election that went to a second round, Özgür Özel received 812 votes to become the 8th Chairman of the CHP, while Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's vote count remained at 536.

While tensions rose from time to time at the convention, some journalists and public opinion researchers posted on their social media accounts that "Kılıçdaroğlu won" while the votes were being counted.

"ÖZEL LOST, CONFIRMED INFORMATION"

Journalist Gökhan Özbek stated, "Özgür Özel lost. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu won again. Confirmed information..."

MAK Consulting Chairman of the Board Mehmet Ali Kulat also posted, "Mr. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu won the election at the CHP's 38th Convention. Best wishes."

Avrasya Research Company founder and CHP member Kemal Özkiraz also stated, "While the count is ongoing, our chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has passed the 690 threshold and has been re-elected."

The posts by these individuals became a topic of discussion after Özgür Özel won the election.

ÖZBEK POINTED TO 3 CHP FIGURES: THEY GAVE THE WRONG INFORMATION

Following the backlash, journalist Özbek made a new post. In his statement, Özbek claimed that Members of Parliament Ahmet Akın, Mahmut Tanal, and Hüseyin Yıldız had provided the information to journalists that 'Kılıçdaroğlu won the election in the first round'.

In his subsequent post, Özkiraz stated, "The information received was wrong. The chairmanship election went to a second round; Özel received 682 votes." Meanwhile, Kulat said, "When some friends posting from the hall 10 minutes ago stated that Mr. Kemal KILIÇDAROĞLU had won as a result - just as I have done for the winning Chairman of every party's congress to date - I made a congratulatory post. When the result went to the 2nd round, I congratulated the delegates this time."
