The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the "secret police structure" of the Fetullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ), resulting in the arrest of 19 out of 35 suspects detained.
The Terror Crimes Investigation Bureau initiated the probe after identifying FETÖ's activities involving infiltration within the police force, recruitment, and monitoring of personnel according to the organization's coding system. The processing of the 35 suspects for whom detention warrants were issued was completed at the police station, and they were referred to the courthouse following health checks.
15 of the interrogated suspects stated that they wished to identify individuals they knew to be connected to the organization by benefiting from effective remorse provisions. Of the suspects referred to the on-duty criminal judgeship of peace, 19 were arrested, while 16 were released under judicial control conditions.
It was reported that 35 individuals responsible for the secret police structure were detained as part of this operation, including 6 who are still actively employed in public institutions and served as "secret imams" for the organization. It was emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and that further statements will be made as more information is obtained.
