Malatya Governor's Office announces latest situation following earthquake

A statement regarding the latest situation has been issued by the Malatya Governor's Office concerning the 5.6-magnitude earthquake that occurred in the Battalgazi district of Malatya.

The statement noted that a total of 68 reports were received by the Emergency Call Center, 28 of which were for damage assessment and 40 for information requests. According to initial field inspections, it was determined that partial collapses occurred in 2 barns in the Bereketli and Sürür neighborhoods of the Yazıhan district, partial damage occurred in 1 building and 1 barn in Doğanşehir, and a retaining wall collapsed in the Arguvan district.

The statement indicated that 2 people were slightly injured as a result of a partial ceiling collapse at Turgut Özal University, and it was announced that out of the 85 citizens who applied to hospitals following the earthquake, 4 are still receiving treatment, and there has been no loss of life.

The statement further noted that highway teams are continuing road clearing efforts due to rockfalls in the Pütürge-Kubbe Mountain area, while teams from the Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change are continuing damage assessment work, and that updates will continue to be shared with the public.
