Malware detected: A major danger awaits those who shop online with credit cards!
It has been alleged that personal data of users is being accessed in Chrome, one of the world's most widely used web browsers, using a piece of malware called Infostealer. This situation poses a serious risk, especially for those who shop online.
A claim has emerged that will unsettle those who shop online with credit cards.
It has been alleged that personal data is being seized in Chrome, the world's most widely used web browser, through the use of malware.
According to a report on Milliyet.com.tr, it was reported that the malware named Infostealer is specifically designed to steal users' personal and financial information, and that this malware can capture individuals' credit card details and passwords.
Cybersecurity Expert Emrullah Akdemir issued warnings to users regarding the issue and listed the precautions that can be taken.
Akdemir stated, "The primary goal of malware called stealers that infects a computer or phone is to take the saved passwords kept on that computer and transmit them to attackers."
Akdemir explained that credit card information could also be seized and expressed what should be done regarding card security with the following words:
"In the event that your credit card information is compromised, attackers convert these funds into different crypto assets through applications that allow direct withdrawals, thereby attempting to cover their tracks. By accessing your banking screens, they also apply for loans in your name, quickly exhausting the credit limits the bank has allocated for you."
WHAT PRECAUTIONS SHOULD BE TAKEN FOR CARD SECURITY?
"One of the most important precautions to take for this is for citizens to absolutely learn and implement the virtual credit card feature. Unless necessary, you should close your credit cards to international purchases when shopping. By transferring only the amount you will spend to your virtual card, you should definitely not use any credit card other than a virtual card for online shopping. If you define your virtual card for places where you make regular expenditures and set aside money up to your regular spending limit, you will reduce your risk of victimization as much as possible. You can save your virtual card for e-commerce, internet provider, etc. payments and set a limit equal to your monthly expenses."
