Man burns his common-law wife to death in Muğla!

A man who poured gasoline on his common-law wife and set her on fire, causing her death, in the Menteşe district of Muğla, has been arrested by judicial authorities and sent to prison.

According to allegations, H.B., an auto electrician, and his common-law wife, Hanife Yılmaz, argued in the garden of their home. As the argument escalated into a fight, H.B. poured gasoline from a bottle onto Yılmaz and set her on fire. Neighbors who heard her screams rescued the woman, who was engulfed in flames, and notified the police and medical teams.

Yılmaz was first taken to Muğla Training and Research Hospital and subsequently transferred to İzmir Bozyaka Training and Research Hospital. Despite all medical interventions, the severely injured woman lost her life.

"HE WAS WATCHING MY MOTHER BURN WITH A SMILE"

In his initial statement to the police, H.B. claimed that Hanife Yılmaz had poured gasoline on herself and set her clothes on fire with a lighter in an attempt to commit suicide.

However, as part of the investigation launched by the Muğla Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Hanife Yılmaz's 16-year-old son, H.A., stated, "On the day of the incident, while we were sitting in our house, my stepfather and mother argued in the garden. My stepfather told my mother, 'I will burn both you and the house.' When we heard the screams and went out to the garden with my sibling, we saw our mother on fire. My stepfather was watching my mother burn with a smile. We extinguished the flames with the help of our neighbors. H.B. threatened us with death and demanded that we hide the truth."

H.B., who was taken into custody by police teams, was arrested by the judicial authorities to whom he was referred and sent to prison.
