Man threatens healthcare workers with a knife after being denied medical report for driver's license
An individual who received a negative response at the hospital where he sought a medical report required for a driver's license was taken into custody after threatening healthcare workers with a knife he was carrying.
In Rize, an individual identified as O.K. applied to the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University (RTEÜ) Training and Research Hospital to obtain a medical report required for a driver's license.
O.K., who was referred to the psychiatry clinic due to being a psychiatric patient, learned there that he would not be able to receive a positive medical report.
Upon this, O.K. began threatening healthcare workers with a knife he pulled from his pocket, while the staff attempted to calm him down.
Following an immediate report, hospital police arrived and intervened in the incident.
O.K., who was persuaded to stand down as a result of the efforts of the hospital police and healthcare workers, is now under investigation for threatening and insulting healthcare staff.
An investigation into the incident has been launched.
