Manisa Bar Association announces: Criminal complaint filed against Yeni Akit news director over Ferdi Zeyrek posts
Social media posts by Zekeriya Say, news director of the reactionary newspaper Yeni Akit, have been taken to the judiciary; the Manisa Bar Association has filed a criminal complaint with the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
The Manisa Bar Association has filed a criminal complaint with the Manisa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against Zekeriya Say, the news director of the reactionary newspaper Yeni Akit, for his scandalous social media posts following the passing of Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek. The Bar Association also requested that a public lawsuit be filed.
The following statement was included in the written announcement made by the Bar Association:
“Following the passing of our late Metropolitan Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek, a criminal complaint has been filed by our Bar Association with the Manisa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the social media posts made by Yeni Akit Newspaper News Director Zekeriya Say, with the request that an indictment be prepared and a public lawsuit be opened for the crimes of inciting the public to hatred and hostility or insulting, and insulting the memory of a deceased person. We present this to the public's information.”
