Stating that they want to intervene in the case as the Manisa Bar Association, Manisa Bar Association President Ümit Rona made a press statement following the adjournment and expressed their reactions.

Describing what happened in Soma as a 'massacre', Manisa Bar Association President Ümit Rona made the following statement:

“This is not an ordinary work-related homicide, it is not a work accident; this is a major massacre.

We have a conscientious and historical responsibility. As the Manisa Bar Association, with the power we derive from Article 76 of the Attorneys' Law, and because the duty to protect and defend human rights as well as to defend and protect the rule of law has been granted to bar associations by law, we want to be a party to this case as the Manisa Bar Association.

The requests of the families, who are the relatives of those who lost their lives in the massacre, to join the case here must also be accepted,” he said.
