Mansur Yavaş comments on Adnan Beker joining CHP: A reference to Özel's 'entrusted' remarks

In response to the question, Yavaş stated that he had no involvement in the process of Ankara MP Adnan Beker joining the CHP, saying, "I read it in the newspapers a day before, and then I saw that the badge was pinned. Honestly, we had no other involvement. I don't know why our Chairman described him as an 'entrustment' either. Because in politics, one can only vouch for oneself," he said.

When asked whether he had any involvement in the process of Beker joining the CHP, Yavaş used the following expressions:

"I did not. I also learned about it from the press a day before. Of course, we know each other. He was the IYI Party Group Chairman at the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality. We meet from time to time, but I was not aware of his transfer. I read it in the newspapers a day before, and then I saw that the badge was pinned. Honestly, we had no other involvement. I don't know why our Chairman described him as an 'entrustment' either. Because in politics, one can only vouch for oneself."

Yavaş gave the following response to a question regarding the developments following the call from PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan:

"There is no one laying down arms or surrendering yet. There are only talks. Please include the families of the martyrs in the talks. Let there be no attempt to ignore them later. No one wants blood to be shed. Everyone wants peace, but as I said before, we also have hesitations. Because whenever this has been attempted, the society has suffered greatly afterward.

I hope it won't be like that. We will watch the developments; we will see in the coming days whether conditions were set or not. Binali Yıldırım is someone who has served as prime minister. It is not possible for him to speak empty words or speak without knowing. These statements need to be clarified. When there is hesitation, we had to speak in a way that would keep the morale of the martyrs' families high and reduce their sorrow at an iftar dinner we held with them."
