Metro reaction from Mansur Yavaş!
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş stated that they have not been able to obtain permission from the Ministry of Transport for the Esenboğa Airport metro line, emphasizing that they are the only capital in Europe without a metro connection to its airport.
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş expressed the difficulties they are facing regarding the construction of a metro line to Esenboğa Airport during his speech at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Mamak Metro.
'WE ARE THE ONLY CAPITAL CITY WITHOUT A METRO TO THE AIRPORT'
Yavaş stated, 'We say let us build the Esenboğa Airport Metro, but the Ministry of Transport does not grant permission. We tell them to build it, and they do not build it either. We are the only capital in Europe without a metro to the airport,' he said.
Yavaş also added, 'Local governments need to be strengthened. It is possible to produce 400 thousand social housing units per year by increasing municipal budgets by only 2%. However, if you say let TOKİ do it all, you cannot achieve this.
In the Gaziosmanpaşa Municipality, they were arrested because there was no council majority, and they seized the municipality they could not win in the election through the majority in the council. When Mr. Erdoğan left the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), his council members were in the minority, but other parties supported them. However, they did the exact opposite in Gaziosmanpaşa.'
