Mansur Yavaş shares post on Mahir Polat receiving house arrest: 'Better late than never'

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş has shared a post regarding Mahir Polat, who was released from Marmara Prison due to health issues and placed under house arrest.

In his post, in which he wished Mahir Polat a speedy recovery, Yavaş stated the following:

"In our legal system, where detention pending trial is the exception, I consider the decision of house arrest granted to Mahir Polat, taking his health condition into account, to be a step taken in the right direction, albeit late.

I convey my best wishes for a speedy recovery to our Union of Historical Towns Secretary General Mr. Mahir Polat and hope he regains his health as soon as possible.

With the hope of a Turkey where justice, human rights, and conscience prevail."

Tutuklu yargılamanın istisna olduğu hukuk sistemimizde, Mahir Polat hakkında sağlık durumu gözetilerek verilen ev hapsi kararını geç de olsa doğru yönde atılmış bir adım olarak değerlendiriyorum.
