Mansur Yavaş: 'The election date is not yet set, it will be discussed when the time comes'

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş answered questions from the press following the SODEMSEN meeting. When asked why he did not attend the primary election meeting where Ekrem İmamoğlu gave a speech, Yavaş replied, "That was a meeting scheduled a month ago. Our meeting time was 14:45. I arrived at the meeting at the exact time it was scheduled." 

In response to the question, "Will you be a candidate in the primary election process initiated by the CHP to determine its presidential candidate?", Yavaş said: 

"The election date is not yet set. It will be discussed when the time comes. When the election date arrives, these options will be put on the table according to the situation. My agenda is the deep poverty experienced in Ankara. If these people see that we are looking out for them, they will vote more. I think this should be the primary priority of all CHP municipalities. Currently, the satisfaction rate with CHP municipalities is 58 percent. We need to strive to raise this 58 percent to the party's vote share as well. Not by engaging in internal conflict with each other. We will not abandon the image of unity and solidarity."

When a reporter asked why he was not present at the meeting titled "Come Choose, Make History," where Ekrem İmamoğlu gave a candidacy speech in the morning, Yavaş replied, "That was a meeting decided upon a month ago. Our meeting time was 14:45. I arrived at the meeting at the exact time it was scheduled."
