Mansur Yavaş's thoughts on the 'Party Congress Case' revealed: It upsets the voters
While CHP Chairman Özgür Özel addresses citizens through rallies, he is also closely following the investigation into his party's congress. As prominent CHP figures express their opinions on the congress case, the views of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş on the matter have also emerged.
Journalist and author Murat Yetkin shared the details of his holiday conversation with Mansur Yavaş, who visited Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, in his column.
Yetkin stated, "Yavaş is in favor of not giving up and continuing the struggle. He believes that the investigations serve to 'prevent a change in government by discrediting successful CHP municipalities,' as he said following his June 2 meeting with İmamoğlu, whose 'innocence will be understood through a fair trial.'"
According to Murat Yetkin, Yavaş and İmamoğlu did not delve into the CHP congress cancellation case or the discussions surrounding Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu during their meeting in Silivri.
Yavaş added that he "observed that the CHP being preoccupied with internal issues while under pressure from the government and the judiciary upsets the voters." For this reason, Yavaş emphasized that he is in favor of focusing energy on refuting "the government's disinformation" and slanders.
Noting that Yavaş is careful not to get involved in internal CHP debates within the framework of the congress cancellation case, Yetkin said, "He is of the opinion that in such a period, the CHP should spend its energy on fighting the government, not on itself."
