Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş has arrived at the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan to support Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.
Making a brief statement here, Yavaş said that he would go to Silivri Prison during the day to visit Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ and Halk TV Editor-in-Chief Suat Toktaş.
Yavaş stated the following:
"We will go to Silivri from here. We will visit Mr. Özdağ, Mr. Suat, and the other friends as well. As a legal professional, I can say that detention is the final measure. If a detained person is acquitted, even if you give them millions, you cannot compensate for the days they spent inside. We will ensure a Turkey where the separation of powers is maintained, all together."
Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ was arrested 10 days ago, and journalist Suat Toktaş was arrested two days ago.
