Many had withdrawn their signatures: The CHP member who called authors for the 'We Are Concerned' text has been identified

A group of 32 people, including writers, academics, artists, and civil society representatives, had published a declaration titled “WE ARE CONCERNED!”.

Shortly after the declaration was published, many individuals announced that they were withdrawing their signatures.

While the declaration criticized AKP policies, it included the following statements regarding internal debates within the CHP: "Yes to the struggle against the government, yes to normalization with the nation. We call on everyone who has not normalized to join this voice."

NUMBER OF SIGNATURES DROPPED TO 23

Following the interpretation of the declaration as being directed at internal CHP debates, individuals including Ataol Behramoğlu, Barış İnce, Berkant Gültekin, Şükrü Erbaş, Halil Ergün, Haydar Ergülen, Barbaros Şansal, Kemal Varol, and Mustafa Gazalcı withdrew their signatures, reducing the number of signatures on the declaration to 23.

Those who withdrew their signatures stated that they were not taking sides in the CHP's internal party debates and expressed their discomfort with the text being made a part of these discussions.

According to a report by Altan Sancar from Sözcü, it has emerged that the person who called to request signatures for the text was CHP member Sinan Karahan. It was stated that Karahan, who is also the coordinator of the book fair held in Burhaniye for many years, reached out to the authors through these connections and requested their signatures by describing the text as a “critique of government policies.” It was also learned that some individuals reacted to Karahan due to the situation that emerged.
