Market owner shoots and kills fellow shopkeeper and his daughter for selling products cheaper

In Sultanbeyli, Istanbul, an argument between two market owners over pricing allegedly turned into an armed conflict. Market owner Engin B. opened fire with a weapon he had on him at the other shopkeeper, Aytaç Ağbaba, and his daughter, Berivan Ağbaba, who was with him. Aytaç Ağbaba lost his life at the scene, while his daughter Berivan Ağbaba died in the hospital.

The incident occurred in the evening on Gürbüz Street in the Hasanpaşa neighborhood. It is alleged that Engin B., who operates a market, started an argument claiming that Aytaç Ağbaba, who runs another market on the same street, was selling products at lower prices.

FATHER AND DAUGHTER LOST THEIR LIVES

Following the argument, Engin B. fired at Aytaç Ağbaba with the weapon he had with him. During the attack, Aytaç Ağbaba and his daughter Berivan Ağbaba, who was by his side, were critically wounded.

Upon reports from bystanders, numerous medical, police, and riot police teams were dispatched to the scene. Medical teams determined that Aytaç Ağbaba, who was struck by 7 bullets, had died at the scene, while his critically injured daughter was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Berivan Ağbaba could not be saved despite all interventions at the hospital. Police teams secured the area. Engin B., who carried out the attack, was apprehended shortly after by police efforts. An investigation into the incident has been launched.
