Strong reaction from Marmaris Municipality to 'dance' videos! 'Official reports are being filed'
Marmaris Municipality has issued a statement regarding videos filmed in some businesses under the guise of 'dancing' that have sparked public outrage. The municipality stated that such footage does not align with the district's tourism vision, announcing that inspections have been tightened and legal proceedings have been initiated.
Marmaris Municipality has issued a written statement regarding "footage displayed under the guise of 'dancing' in some businesses that has caused public discomfort."
The statement, which noted that "as Marmaris Municipality, our discomfort with these images is the same as that of the public," continued: "In order to prevent such incidents and ensure high-quality and sustainable tourism in our district, consultation meetings have been held with all relevant public institutions, and a comprehensive roadmap has begun to be established. In this context, necessary inspections are being carried out by police units and municipal police teams; official reports are being filed regarding violations detected by our municipal police and law enforcement officers, and legal processes are being set in motion."

"ROADMAP ESTABLISHED"
The statement included the following:
"In recent days, footage displayed in some businesses in Marmaris under the guise of 'dancing' that has caused public discomfort is on the radar of all local institutions, primarily our municipality. Such footage absolutely does not align with Marmaris's tourism vision and urban identity; it harms the reputation of our district and our quality tourism goals. As Marmaris Municipality, our discomfort with these images is the same as that of the public. In order to prevent such incidents and ensure high-quality and sustainable tourism in our district, consultation meetings have been held with all relevant public institutions, and a comprehensive roadmap has begun to be established.
In this context, necessary inspections are being carried out by police units and municipal police teams; official reports are being filed regarding violations detected by our municipal police and law enforcement officers, and legal processes are being set in motion."
The statement reminded that Municipal Law No. 5393 regulates the rules that the businesses in question must follow, adding, "It is our collective responsibility to protect the future of Marmaris and increase its brand value. We believe that all authorized institutions and industry stakeholders must take responsibility in this process. As a municipality, we are determined to combat such negative incidents and will continue to take all necessary steps to protect public order, local values, and tourism quality."
