Martyrs' families leave black wreath at MHP: 'It didn't suit you'

They went to the front of the MHP Provincial Headquarters to protest MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli and left a black wreath with the words "It didn't suit you" written on it.

According to local media reports, İsmail Kumartaşlı, President of the Afyonkarahisar Martyrs' Families and Veterans Association, made a press statement at Anıtpark.

"THE JOB FELL TO US AGAIN"

The following statements were used in the press release:

"What has been tried should not be tried again. It should not be forgotten that these sacred lands are not only the legacy of our ancestors but also the trust of our children. In Turkish tradition, there is no forgiveness for treason against the homeland. In the tenets of Islam, mercy to the oppressor is betrayal to the oppressed. As families of martyrs and veterans, we have waited for approximately 2.5 months since the day the first statement was made. We wondered if someone would come out and show a reaction on our behalf, or defend our rights. However, we saw that until today, no individual, NGO, or institution has shown a reaction. Or they could not. Today, the job fell to us again. While the families of martyrs and veterans who suffer the pain are living through their own grief, they are defending the rights of their martyrs themselves. We leave you alone with your consciences. May God not make you experience the pain we have lived through. We hope that you will continue the torch of reaction we have lit today. There will be those who will criticize this statement we made today. I ask them by looking into their eyes: Has your son ever died? If he hasn't died, do not speak, be silent."

'RIGHT TO HOPE' REACTION FROM MARTYRS' FAMILIES

The group then walked silently to the MHP Provincial Headquarters to protest MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, who had said "the right to hope should be granted" for Öcalan. Finally, the group left a black wreath with the words "It didn't suit you" in front of the party building.
