Massive price hikes for fire extinguishers following the fire in Bolu! Ministry takes action
Following the tragic fire in Bolu, prices for fire extinguishers and other fire safety equipment have risen by up to 100 percent. In response to the surge in complaints regarding exorbitant pricing, the Ministry of Trade has taken action, launching inspections and imposing fines on opportunists.
While Turkey mourns the loss of 78 lives in the tragic fire at Bolu Kartalkaya, opportunists have seized the moment. Following the incident, it was observed that prices for fire extinguishers and other fire suppression materials increased by 100 percent. As the exorbitant price hikes drew significant backlash, the Ministry of Trade took action following complaints and allegations.

"NECESSARY PENAL ACTIONS ARE BEING TAKEN"
Ministry of Trade Press Advisor Fatih Uysan announced in a statement on his X account that inspections regarding the sale of fire safety equipment are ongoing and that fines have been issued to businesses engaging in exorbitant pricing.

In his statement, Uysan noted that inspection teams affiliated with the Ministry of Trade are continuing their audits regarding fire safety materials, stating, "Necessary penal actions are being taken against businesses that apply exorbitant prices."
100 PERCENT PRICE HIKE
A mini fire extinguisher, which cost 414 TL before the fire, rose to 735 TL after the fire, while fire blankets, fire extinguishing sprays, and smoke detectors also saw a 100 percent price increase.
