May 1 operations continue: Numerous detentions reported
Operations targeting those who wanted to march from Saraçhane to Taksim Square on May 1 are ongoing. The Progressive Lawyers Association (ÇHD) announced that 12 people were detained this morning.
The AKP government, which banned Taksim Square on May 1, had effectively placed Istanbul under blockade.
Operations targeting many citizens who gathered in Saraçhane to march to Taksim Square are continuing.
While numerous citizens were detained in house raids conducted on the morning of May 3, the operations continued today as well.
In a statement made on the official social media account of the ÇHD Istanbul Branch, it was reported that 12 more people have been detained.
