Mayor Aydar reacts to political ban against him: 'A mortgage is being placed'
Ceyhan Mayor Kadir Aydar evaluated the political ban decision as an attempt to place a mortgage on the political preferences of the people of Ceyhan.
Ceyhan Mayor Kadir Aydar argued that the political ban decision was contradictory, claiming it was the result of a case in which there were no witnesses or evidence.
Aydar claimed that the process was proceeding unfairly, stating, "My name is being included in the file with false statements that emerged 13 months later."
"A DECISION TAKEN RAPIDLY"
Stating that the court process concluded with unusual speed, Aydar said, "The court of first instance issued a political ban decision on May 16, it went to the appellate court on July 16, and today, in September, the decision is being upheld very quickly."
Stating that the reasons behind this rapid progress should be questioned and criticizing the decision taken by the court by majority vote, Aydar said, "The decision is made by a majority vote, 2 to 1, despite the dissenting opinion of one judge. This decision means placing a mortgage on the will of the people of Ceyhan."
Saying that "unfair results were encountered in the case," Aydar stated, "A 25-month sentence is given; if it had been 24 months, a political ban would not have been required. While non-political names are acquitted, bans are imposed on political names."
Reminding that the decision made by the local court in May was moved to the appellate court in July and upheld in September, Aydar said, "A mortgage was placed on the will of the people of Ceyhan very quickly."
