Mayor's first act was to put official vehicles up for sale
Mayors who received their certificates of election have taken office and begun implementing their first actions. Halil İbrahim Özgün, the CHP candidate who won the election in the Defne district of Hatay, also revealed his 'first act' in a post on his social media account.
CHP Mayor Halil İbrahim Özgün, who won the election in Hatay's Defne district by receiving 45.83 percent of the votes, has put the official vehicles up for sale.
In a statement published on his social media accounts, Özgün said, "We promised that we would practice austerity."
Özgün used the following expressions:
“WE WILL SELL THE VEHICLES AND PUT THE MONEY INTO THE MUNICIPALITY”
"Hello, dear residents of Defne. We promised that we would manage the municipality in a transparent and auditable manner. We promised that we would practice austerity. The vehicles you see behind me are the municipality's official vehicles.
Apart from these, there was a newer and more luxurious vehicle that our previous mayor used as a rental. We have returned that vehicle as well.
We are also putting the official vehicles you see behind me up for sale. We will sell these vehicles.
We will put the money into the municipality. We do not want anyone, including myself, to use an official vehicle within the municipality. May this action be beneficial for our Defne."
