Mayor Mandalinci: Bodrum is not an expensive place

High prices in Bodrum, one of the most preferred regions for summer vacations, are drawing reactions from citizens. Especially with the start of the season, the price of lahmacun in Bodrum remains a constant topic of discussion.

CALLED THE PRICES IN BODRUM A 'PERCEPTION OPERATION'

Appearing as a guest on Buket Güler's program on Halk TV, Bodrum Mayor Tamer Mandalinci made notable statements regarding prices in Bodrum. Mandalinci said, "Saying that Bodrum is very expensive is entirely a perception operation."

Speaking about the remarks from tradespeople in Bodrum that 'Bodrum is finished,' Mandalinci said, "There is no such thing as Bodrum being finished. If Bodrum did not end during its 4,500-year history, any inflation experienced in 1-2 years cannot finish Bodrum. Tradespeople in Bodrum are suffering from the price hikes. The perception that Bodrum is expensive is on the agenda at the beginning of every year, as it is every year, with the 'lahmacun index.' Lahmacun is not something consumed every day on Bodrum's beaches, but for some reason, certain people try to identify Bodrum with lahmacun and create a perception of high prices in Bodrum."

"AN INJUSTICE IS BEING DONE TO BODRUM"

Mandalinci continued his words as follows:

“An injustice is being done to us with the perception of high prices in Bodrum. Compared to last year, everything has gone up in price, of course, business owners in Bodrum have to reflect this in their prices. Bodrum offers a wide range to citizens. You can eat in Bodrum for 200 liras, or you can eat for 2500 euros.”
