Media Ombudsman Faruk Bildirici shares Erdoğan’s plane list: Who got in, who got out?

Media Ombudsman Faruk Bildirici has shared the list of journalists invited on President Erdoğan's foreign trips.

Bildirici stated that names who were constantly invited between 2014 and 2017, such as Ali Adakoğlu (16 invitations), Selçuk Tepeli (14 invitations), and Murat Kelkitlioğlu, have been completely removed from the list in recent years.

One of the recent examples of names removed from Erdoğan's plane trips includes Mustafa Yıldız, Sami Dadağlıoğlu, Esra Elönü, and Ünal Kaya, who were invited on five or six trips in 2022. These names were completely removed from the invitation list in 2024. Similarly, Hacı Yakışıklı was invited on only one trip after moving from Yeni Akit to TV100.

PARTISAN INVITEES HAVE DECREASED

Bildirici noted that while names such as AKP deputies Osman Gökçek, Ayşe Böhürler, and Şebnem Bursalı are not invited due to their active political roles, other figures with political identities are also being included on fewer trips compared to the past.

PERMANENT PASSENGERS

Faruk Bildirici stated that TRT General Manager Zahid Sobacı, Anadolu Agency General Manager Serdar Karagöz, and SETA General Coordinator Nebi Miş are the prominent, constant names on the trips.

Miş, who replaced Burhanettin Duran—who became Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in May 2024—also took over his column in the Sabah newspaper.

SABAH AT THE TOP

In the last three years, the Sabah newspaper has stood out with 49 trips, while Yeni Şafak sent representatives on 45, Hürriyet on 39, and Akşam on 38 trips. While the Turkuvaz Media Group ranks first among media groups, it is observed that Demirören Media follows behind it.

THOSE WHO FELL OUT OF FAVOR

Daily Sabah and Türkgün newspapers have been represented less on Erdoğan's trips in recent years. In 2024, Daily Sabah participated in only one trip; Türkgün has not been on the list for two years.
