CHP Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer was detained at his home in the morning hours, and an investigation was launched against him for "being a member of the PKK/KCK armed terrorist organization." Police conducted searches at both his home and the municipal building.

Within the scope of the investigation, media outlets close to the AKP reported on the case before the prosecutor's office made any statement regarding Özer.

It was observed that the reports published by Sabah and Yeni Şafak, claiming they had obtained the information, were identical to the statements later released by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the detention.

Additionally, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu was targeted based on the statement he made regarding Özer's detention.
