Mehmet Kamış referred to the courthouse

The Fethullahist Terrorist Organization/Parallel State Structure (FETÖ/PDY) alleged high-ranking official and former deputy editor-in-chief of Zaman newspaper, Mehmet Kamış, has been referred to the courthouse.

Intelligence units had been tracking Mehmet Kamış, who had an outstanding arrest warrant, and determined that the terrorist organization official was hiding in a residence in the Çeşme district of İzmir. The organization official was captured by MİT and İzmir Police Department teams in a joint operation as soon as he stepped out of the house where he was hiding.

The terrorist organization official, who had Bylock messages—the secret communication program used by FETÖ/PDY members—whose name frequently appeared in the statements of informants, and who held an account at Bankasya, which shaped the financial structure of the organization and was closed by decree-law (KHK), was sent to Istanbul this morning, where the investigation is being conducted, following the completion of his procedures in İzmir.

Mehmet Kamış, who also served as the deputy to the fugitive Ekrem Dumanlı—the editor-in-chief of FETÖ's shuttered publication Zaman newspaper, who has an arrest warrant for the crime of "Attempting to Overthrow the Constitutional Order" as part of the investigation into the organization and was determined to be living in Hillsborough, New Jersey, USA—was taken into custody as soon as he left the luxury residence where he was hiding.

It was noted that when he was captured, Kamış initially hid his identity from the officers and 'claimed that he was not Mehmet Kamış'.

The alleged official of the terrorist organization, who had been sought as a fugitive for a long time and is among the prominent defendants in the 'coup incitement case' heard at the Istanbul 26th High Criminal Court, was taken for interrogation at the Istanbul Counter-Terrorism Branch. Following his interrogation at the Counter-Terrorism Branch, the FETÖ member was referred to the Istanbul Courthouse 26th High Criminal Court, where the investigation is being conducted, in the afternoon.
