Melek Mosso concert cancelled
It has been learned that one of the concert tenders has been cancelled as part of the investigation into the concerts held by the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) between 2021 and 2024.
The ABB Department of Culture and Social Affairs had announced on October 3 that the tender for the concert planned to be given by Melek Mosso at Atatürk Children's Park as part of the October 29 Republic Day celebrations would be held via open procedure on October 17 at 11:30 AM. However, according to the announcement on the Electronic Public Procurement Platform (EKAP), the ABB has cancelled the Melek Mosso concert tender.
According to the report in Birgün, the announcement on EKAP stated the reason for the cancellation as: "Due to our administration's decision to abandon the organization of the Melek Mosso concert, there is no longer a need for the service procurement in question."
No statement has been made by the ABB regarding the cancellation of the tender.
CONCERT INVESTIGATION HAD BEEN OPENED
An investigation had been launched by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the concerts organized by the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) between 2021 and 2024. Within the scope of the investigation, 14 people were detained on September 23 for the crimes of "misconduct in office" and "rigging a tender."
The Ankara Duty Criminal Court of Peace issued arrest warrants for H.A.B., former Head of the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Department of Culture and Social Affairs; H.E., former Acting Branch Manager of Cultural Events/former Acting Head of the Department of Culture and Social Affairs; H.Z., former Acting Head of the Department of Culture and Social Affairs; O.E., owner of Evren Teknik Grup Müzik Organizasyon San. Tic. Ltd. Şti.; and S.Ç., one of the partners of Enfest Organizasyon Turizm San. Tic. Ltd. Şti.
As part of the investigation into concert expenditures, an indictment was prepared against 14 people, 5 of whom are in custody, demanding up to 12 years in prison for each on charges of "qualified embezzlement." In the indictment, it was requested that 8 people be sentenced to up to 31.5 years and 6 people to up to 18 years in prison on the grounds that the crime of qualified embezzlement was committed in a chain manner.
