Melih Gökçek blames Fenerbahçe's defeat on Özgür Özel: 'Unlucky guy'
Fenerbahçe was defeated 3-0 at home by Nottingham Forest in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League knockout round play-offs. Following the match, former Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Melih Gökçek attributed the yellow-navy team's loss to CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, who attended the match at the Chobani Stadium.

The match was attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın Bak, Turkish Football Federation (TFF) President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, CHP Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Nuri Aslan, TFF Vice President Mecnun Otyakmaz, and A National Team Head Coach Vincenzo Montella, who supported the yellow-navy team from the stands.
Former Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Melih Gökçek took to his social media account after the match to blame the defeat on the CHP Chairman, saying, "Unlucky guy... He went to the Fenerbahçe match, and we conceded three goals."
