A memorial forest has been established in the Torbalı district of İzmir for university student Pınar Gültekin, who lost her life at the hands of Cemal Metin Avcı in Muğla.
According to a statement made by the Aegean Forest Foundation (Ege Orman Vakfı), a forest consisting of 4 thousand saplings was planted in the Yoğurtçular reforestation area in the Torbalı district in cooperation with the foundation as part of an initiative to keep Pınar Gültekin's memory alive.
Gültekin's family, relatives, and friends also came to the site to participate in the planting. In her statement, the foundation's general manager, Perihan Öztürk, said, "Pınar Gültekin's name will live on in the saplings of this forest. As the Aegean Forest Foundation, we remember all the women who have fallen victim to murder with mercy. We hope and wish that from now on, we will plant saplings that give life to the soil and nature not in memory of murdered women, but in celebration of the beautiful days of the women who give life to the world."
