Mersin Metropolitan Mayor Vahap Seçer to MHP Municipal Council Member: 'You have filled the municipality with members of the Ülkü Ocakları and other such groups'

Mersin Metropolitan Mayor Vahap Seçer, who was re-elected, clashed with an MHP member during a municipal council meeting.

Following the MHP member's remarks to Seçer regarding CHP Chairman Özgür Özel's promise that no one doing their job in CHP-run municipalities would be dismissed, Vahap Seçer responded.

Recalling the term of Burhanettin Kocamaz, who was elected mayor from the MHP in 2014, Vahap Seçer said the following:

''YOU HAVE TURNED THE MUNICIPALITY INTO YOUR PARTY'S BACKYARD''

"We have not forgotten your periods in power. Last term, you turned this municipality into your party's backyard. You filled it with your party's members, file by file, from the Ülkü Ocakları and other such groups. Who do you think you are dancing with?

''MY CHAIRMAN IS NOT YOUR EQUAL''

You do not have the qualifications to speak about my chairman. He is not your equal. Our chairman promised that no one who does their job will be dismissed. There is no such municipality where you can just collect a paycheck without working and act tough because you are a member of this or that group. Those days are long gone. There is plenty of work for those who work in this municipality. Our streets have become spotless. Real laborers are working there."
