Message from CHP Spokesperson Yücel: 'We will continue this solidarity to the end'

CHP members are continuing their protests in front of the Esenyurt Municipality building regarding the removal of Ahmet Özer from his post as Mayor of Esenyurt following his arrest.

Deniz Yücel, Istanbul Deputy Ayşe Sibel Yanıkömeroğlu, and Esenyurt District Chair Hüseyin Ergin met with CHP council members and party supporters in front of the municipality building in the afternoon.

"WE WILL NOT LEAVE THIS PLACE"

Speaking there, Yücel said that while the elected mayor of Esenyurt, Özer, should be serving the district, he is instead being held captive in Silivri.

Reminding that CHP members have been keeping a vigil in front of the municipality since Özer's arrest, Yücel said, "Our municipal council members are here; they have been on watch here since the first day of this democratic coup.

Neither they, nor the people of Esenyurt, nor we will leave this place until we get what is rightfully ours. We will continue this resistance, this solidarity to the end," he said.

Stating that there is no account that CHP municipalities, their mayors, or Ahmet Özer cannot provide, Yücel used the expression, "I am calling from here for this mistake to be corrected as soon as possible. We will never leave this place empty; we will not surrender Esenyurt to anyone, especially not to rent-seekers."
