Message from MHP's Ersoy on women's right to life
Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Kayseri Deputy Baki Ersoy stated that they will continue their struggle to end femicides, saying, "Protecting our women's right to life is a debt of honor for the state, society, and all of us."
In his statement, Ersoy said, "Another femicide. Ebru K. was brutally murdered in the Mimarsinan Demokrasi neighborhood of our Melikgazi district.
The life of another mother, another child, another woman has been taken away. Violence against women is now an act of terror that leaves unhealable wounds on our social conscience.
Each of these atrocities is a systematic attack on our women's right to life. We had previously submitted a legislative proposal to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) regarding the prevention of violence against women; we had demanded the necessary regulations to increase the deterrent effect of penalties, strengthen protective-preventive mechanisms, and improve risk assessment processes.
Today, we see once again that this issue cannot be postponed, pushed aside, or taken lightly. The pain of Ebru K. is the pain of us all. Protecting our women's right to life is a debt of honor for the state, society, and all of us. I wish God's mercy upon Ebru K. and patience for her family. We will continue our struggle with determination to put an end to this brutality," he stated.
