Message from Minister Gürlek for the May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day

In his message, Minister Gürlek stated, "Our national struggle, which began with Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's arrival in Samsun on May 19, 1919, was the first step of our blessed march toward an independent and sovereign Republic of Türkiye and one of the most important turning points in our history.

That torch of independence, lit a century ago, repelled imperialist occupations through the determination and resolve of our nation and illuminated the path to our independence. Today, our goal is to carry the ideal of a fully independent and strong Türkiye into the future, together with our free-thinking, free-conscienced TEKNOFEST generation."

Celebrating the May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, Gürlek said, "On this meaningful day, I commemorate with mercy and gratitude all the heroes of our War of Independence, our beloved martyrs, and our veterans, especially Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. I celebrate the May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day of our dear youth and our beloved nation. Under the leadership of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we will continue our journey toward a great and strong Türkiye with determination."
