Message from Öcalan to Sırrı Süreyya Önder, who is receiving hospital treatment

The message, announced in front of the hospital where Önder is receiving treatment, is as follows:

TO SIRRI SÜREYYA ÖNDER

I wish Sırrı Süreyya Önder a speedy recovery due to the illness he is experiencing; I extend my get-well wishes to his family, all his friends, and his loved ones. I have had a 12-year working relationship with Sırrı Süreyya Önder. The great importance he carries is this:

As an ideal person of Adıyaman and Turkmen origin, he represents the Baba Ishak tradition. He is someone who reflects the great effort for peace to society and is capable of breaking down social prejudices in his own person. He has done this, too. He broke prejudices in society, in Parliament, and on the street.

What comes to life in his person is what we call Anatolian genes and culture. What we call peace is making Anatolian genes and the Turkmen tradition livable. Önder is such a person, and this is the essence of true Turkmen identity: the best identity for peace, the best culture for peace. It is the exact opposite of the mentality of "let us insistently create enmity and conduct politics in this way."

Önder's culture of coping with and managing negativity is important; he is able to transform emerging negative situations into positive ones before they deepen.

I see that everyone is going to the hospital where Önder is staying and expressing their loyalty to his memory. The requirement of loyalty is to put his peace efforts into practice. Once again, I extend my get-well wishes to him, his family, his loved ones, and the entire society; I hope he recovers as soon as possible and returns among us in his most enthusiastic and strongest state.
