Issuing a message for the 11th anniversary of the Gezi Resistance, CHP leader Özgür Özel described Gezi as "the most peaceful protest of recent years" and called for the release of those imprisoned due to the Gezi Park trial.
Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel shared a post on his social media account for the 11th anniversary of the Gezi Resistance.
In his message, Özel described the Gezi Resistance as 'the most peaceful and widely attended civil protest of recent years.'
Stating that the release of those sentenced to heavy prison terms in the Gezi trial would be a great opportunity for the 'normalization' of the country, Özel used the following expressions:
"I respectfully commemorate our citizens who lost their lives during the Gezi process. The release of Can Atalay, Tayfun Kahraman, Çiğdem Mater, Mine Özerden, and Osman Kavala, who are being held in prison unjustly, is the greatest opportunity for the country's normalization.
