Message to AKP politicians and commentators on 'what to talk about': Let's emphasize judicial independence, let's make others emphasize it

While the political agenda in the country is constantly changing, the recent topic of discussion on pro-government channels has been İmamoğlu's hotel visit and the taped-over cameras.

While the 'tape' issue continued to be discussed on live broadcasts throughout the night, a striking claim was made.

Journalist Barış Terkoğlu claimed in a post on his social media account that the Directorate of Communications sent notes to members of parliament who would speak on television.

Stating that CHP Chairman Özgür Özel pointed to the issue at the Başakşehir rally, Terkoğlu also shared a screenshot of the messages in question.

According to information provided by sources close to AKP deputies, the incident is true.

A private message was sent by the Directorate of Communications to some AKP politicians and commentators participating in TV programs via a messaging application. The content of the message explains how to respond to the opposition on which issues.

REACTION FROM THE DIRECTORATE OF COMMUNICATIONS TO ÖZEL'S WORDS

Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun stated, "Our Directorate of Communications is a communication bridge between our state and our nation. It listens to the troubles of our citizens, conveys them to the relevant authorities, follows up on their solutions, and informs them. For this reason, it is the door of our state; it is the servant of our citizens."

In a statement on his social media account, Altun stated that CHP Chairman Özgür Özel clearly revealed how little he knows the state with his statements regarding the Directorate of Communications, and therefore he saw benefit in sharing the duties and activities of the Presidential Directorate of Communications with the public once again.

Stating that the Directorate of Communications fights against disinformation and defends the truth by ensuring the correct flow of information, and therefore informs all public authorities to deliver the facts to the citizens, Altun stated the following:

"The Directorate of Communications carries out strategic communication activities in line with the vision of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and organizes campaigns; it explains the actions of our state one by one, again and again. For this reason, it constantly produces content and reaches national and international audiences. The Directorate of Communications also carries out public diplomacy activities. It tells, shows, says, and announces the Turkey brand to the world with tables of pride. For this reason, it presents information that protects our national interests to all its international interlocutors. Our Directorate of Communications is a communication bridge between our state and our nation. It listens to the troubles of our citizens, conveys them to the relevant authorities, follows up on their solutions, and informs them. For this reason, it is the door of our state; it is the servant of our citizens."

Altun emphasized that the Directorate of Communications observes the rights of media workers, stands by them at all times by creating a safe media ecosystem, and is always a supporter of all national and international press representatives, and noted the following:

"The Directorate of Communications always elevates the power of our red flag with its members working day and night in Turkey and the world, and with their sweat. So who is disturbed by this? Those who produce disinformation for the international media and complain about our country... Our Directorate of Communications announces all these works to every single citizen, from our teachers to our doctors, from our business people to our farmers, from our deputies to our retirees. Özgür Özel has made the one about politicians his talking point; he is trying to intimidate us by having us booed in the squares. We, together with all our friends, will continue to fight for the truth; you cannot intimidate us, you cannot scare us. We will continue to strive to deliver our message to anyone who does not turn a deaf ear to the truth."
