Metal-İş Union Branch President Deniz Ilgan has died in Ankara
In Ankara, Deniz Ilgan, the Anatolian Branch President of the United Metal Workers' Union (Birleşik Metal-İş), shot and killed branch secretary Erdinç Koç with a handgun following an argument, before turning the weapon on himself.
An argument broke out for reasons yet to be determined between Deniz Ilgan, the Anatolian Branch President of the United Metal Workers' Union, and Branch Secretary Erdinç Koç in the Çankaya district.
During the incident, which escalated into a fight, Ilgan shot Koç with a handgun he was carrying.
Ilgan then shot himself with the same weapon.
HE DIED AT THE HOSPITAL WHERE HE WAS TAKEN IN CRITICAL CONDITION
Upon notification, numerous police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.
Medical teams determined that Koç had died at the scene, while Ilgan, who was critically injured, passed away at the hospital where he had been taken.
