The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a heavy rain warning for several provinces in the north of the country. According to the statement, local heavy downpours and occasional thunderstorms are expected in the northern parts of Sinop and Kastamonu starting from the evening hours of September 29.
The precipitation is also expected to be effective in the surrounding areas of Samsun and Ordu starting from the night hours. Authorities noted that the rainfall could intensify in a short time and advised citizens to take precautions.
The warning urged citizens to be careful and prepared against negative conditions such as flash floods, water inundation, landslides, lightning, strong winds during rainfall, and disruptions in transportation.
In regions where heavy rain is expected, drivers are advised to be cautious against the risk of reduced visibility and water accumulation on roads, while those living in areas near stream beds and at risk of landslides are advised to monitor developments.
