MHP Chairman Bahçeli issues statement on 'absolute nullity': Kılıçdaroğlu must renounce

As harsh reactions continue to mount regarding the absolute nullity decision issued concerning the CHP, the statements of MHP Chairman Bahçeli, who has been expressing his views on this decision since the very first days, were awaited with curiosity.

MHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız conveyed MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's assessment regarding the absolute nullity decision via his social media account.

Here is Bahçeli's commentary on the nullity:

The statements made by Mr. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and Mr. Özgür Özel following the decision are within the framework of unity.

However, transforming this into a common will of the CHP will make these efforts constructive.

Our wish is for both chairmen to come together instead of creating crowds and engaging in mutual challenges, and to find a common path based on the interests of the CHP by demonstrating the necessary sacrifices within the framework of the opportunities provided by the laws, the party charter, and the court decision.

They should do this without delay and without causing social or intra-party turmoil. It should not be forgotten that an attitude that could evolve into betrayal against the corporate identity, heritage, and base of the CHP will be a heavy burden for those who have served the CHP. At this stage, the only way is to reach a consensus; the fundamental element of consensus is to avoid provocations and to act with a sense of renunciation and responsibility.

Turkey is a democratic state of law.

It possesses a strong political culture. According to our Constitution, the judiciary is impartial and independent.

Turkey belongs to us all. With this understanding, acting within the framework of rules and institutions, with common sense, unity, and solidarity, and reaching a consensus on the future of the CHP will be the most auspicious path.

Kılıçdaroğlu should state that he renounces his position in order to form a common formula by meeting with Özgür Özel.”
