MHP figure lashes out at Tuğrul Türkeş, saying 'we know him for his lack of stance'

İsmet Büyükataman, Secretary General of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and MP for Bursa, has reacted harshly to AKP Ankara MP Tuğrul Türkeş—the son of MHP founder Alparslan Türkeş—for his intention to visit Osman Kavala, who is being held in custody as part of the Gezi Park trial.

In a statement made on the social media platform X, he said: "Tuğrul Bey, who has failed to carry his surname and whom we know for his lack of stance that does not befit the Türkeş name, has now reached out to the Soros-supporter Kavala, making it his duty to defend a traitor whose crime has been finalized, and has targeted the Turkish judiciary."

MHP's İsmet Büyükataman also harshly criticized Türkeş's response to the question of whether he would go to the visit alone: "Who should I go with? Should I go with Feti Yıldız?" He stated: "He had the audacity to mention the name of our Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız, once again demonstrating his lack of seriousness and that he feels no shame for the pit of humiliation he has fallen into.

Mr. Feti Yıldız is our party's Deputy Chairman and our comrade in the cause. He is an honorable member of the Nationalist-Idealist Movement.

On this dark path that Tuğrul Bey has embarked upon, in this direction where it is unclear who is charting his course, it would not even be a subject of humor for any Idealist to accompany him," he assessed.

Tuğrul Bey, who has failed to carry his surname and whom we know for his lack of stance that does not befit the Türkeş name, has now reached out to the Soros-supporter Kavala, making it his duty to defend a traitor whose crime has been finalized, and has targeted the Turkish judiciary. Furthermore, he has shamelessly tried to clear his name by calling this "nationalism."

Tuğrul Bey has unfortunately failed to understand or internalize what a nationalist stance means, and has set out on the road to prison to visit the Soros-supporter Kavala, an enemy of the Turks and Turkey.

On this road to prison where tributes are paid to traitors, agents, terrorists, and opponents of Turkey, when asked who he would go to the visit with, he had the audacity to mention the name of our Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız, once again demonstrating his lack of seriousness and that he feels no shame for the pit of humiliation he has fallen into.

Mr. Feti Yıldız is our party's Deputy Chairman and our comrade in the cause. He is an honorable member of the Nationalist-Idealist Movement. On this dark path that Tuğrul Bey has embarked upon, in this direction where it is unclear who is charting his course, it would not even be a subject of humor for any Idealist to accompany him. Because Idealists are followers of an honorable cause and are lovers of the Republic of Turkey.

Our advice to Tuğrul Bey is that he should not take the name of the Nationalist Movement Party and honorable men of the cause into his mouth, and that he should make his visit together with the CHP-DEM representatives who are struggling for the freedom of the Soros-supporter Kavala. This would be what suits him. Furthermore, it is also a matter of curiosity whether his next visit will be to the Edirne F-Type Prison!
